The First Ever Everything But the Kitchen Party!

The first ever Strike A Chord Everything But the Kitchen Party!

In true Strike A Chord style, I brought my studio to this wonderful family's house (I'm the father's ESL teacher.) The night started off learning their first chord on the guitar. I brought some drums, a harmonica, and we just made some crazy music/noise for awhile! (Strike A Chord is about music discovery after all!)

Later, we sang some good ol' folk songs like Skip to My Lou, Polly Wolly Doodle, and I taught them Shady Grove and Bury Me Beneath the Willow. We had a blast. Listen to those sweet melodies!

Note: Can't see the videos? They are here also. Videos won't work on mobile devices. Help! I think I have to upload them to youtube...

Noise or Music? You decide, but it doesn't matter because Strike A Chord is about engaging in musical discovery!

Here's Amber learning her very first guitar chord. Take it away, Amber!

Here's the whole family getting in on the fun. Joe's Dad and Daughter Quartet!

The peace sign just kills me. Peace out!

Yes, here in Newfoundland we have kitchen parties, and I was happy to bring Strike A Chord's Everything-But-the-Kitchen Party to these lovely newcomers. Welcome to St. John's, b'ys!
